Guardians over Athletics

Guardians are the clear favorites in my opinion. Gavin Williams (13-8, 3.78 ERA, elite K numbers) starts vs. Jack Perkins (3-11, 6.14 ERA). Cleveland is rolling winning their last 4 games. Plus, a strong home performance yesterday crushing the A’s 12-6.

The A’s are a last-place team (61-94) and on a 5 game losing skid. Pitching overall for the A's have not been their strong suit. Guardians lead the AL Central and have the superior staff and recent momentum.

Cardinals over Nationals

Cardinals are modest home favorites. The Nationals face Quinn Mathews a young lefty with solid recent outings. While Jake Irvin. starts for Washington, who has been struggling lately with 4 losses in his last 7 games.

The Cardinals are still the better overall club at home against a Nationals team that’s been up-and-down (hot streak lately but still sub-.500). Home field + pitching edge tilts it toward the Cards in a low stakes series for both. The Nats are looking for the sweep, but I don't think they get it.

Rangers over Blue Jays

Rangers are hot! Winners of 6 out of their last 7 games and just took sole possession of the AL West. Jacob deGrom gets the nod. He's 11-9 with a 3.79 ERA, strong K rate and excellent home numbers at Globe Life. Toronto doesn't strike out often, but I think The deGrominator is too much.

Toronto is fading in the wild-card race and already dropped the first two of the series. deGrom at home vs. a Blue Jays lineup that’s been inconsistent is a strong edge for Texas.

White Sox might win over Tigers

I feel like the White Sox have a slight home lean for this game. Chicago is right in the AL Central mix, 1 game behind Cleveland. They’re playing better at home and the Tigers are further back. Not a lock, both are middling but, Chicago has the edge if their pitching holds up in a rivalry-ish Central matchup. For me, this one has more “could go either way” energy.

Brewers might win over Orioles

Brewers are one of the best teams in baseball (97-58, NL Central leaders, crushing it). I mainly like the Brewers because Misiorowski is on the mound. They’re heavy road favorites and just beat Baltimore 1-0 yesterday.

Even on the road, Milwaukee’s overall talent and recent play make them the more likely winner against an Orioles team that’s out of contention and inconsistent.
