Pirates (vs. Royals): I really like Pittsburgh here because they get Paul Skenes at home against Kansas City. Skenes enters with a 3.78 ERA and 185 strikeouts, while the Pirates are coming off a 7-4 victory over Milwaukee in which their offense showed some life. The Royals are sending Randy Dobnak to the bump, who has a solid 2.73 ERA, so this isn't necessarily a walkover. But, the Royals have been one of the weaker road clubs. 

Guardians (vs. Athletics): Cleveland is a heavy home favorite against the lowly Athletics, who own one of the worst records in baseball at 61-92. Daniel Espino gets the ball for the Guardians in a spot where bulk/relief support is likely available. The A’s simply lack the offense and starting pitching to hang with a motivated Cleveland club fighting for positioning. Homefield edge plus talent gap makes this one of the cleaner plays on the board.

Mets (vs. Phillies): I know the Mets have been struggling. They just got swept by Baltimore and have lost four straight but I still like them tonight at Citi Field. While the Phillies have not announced their probably starter, the Mets have Zac Thornton scheduled. I really like this match up against the heavy left-handed lineup of the Phillies. 

Blue Jays (at Rangers): Kumar Rocker, who has a 4.54 ERA is starting for the Rangers. He’s been solid in his last few outings. But, Dylan Cease is excellent this year with a strong ERA, elite strikeout rate, and especially on the road. This is probably why Toronto is the road favorite against Texas.

Mariners (at Rockies): Bryan Woo is a strong starter facing Gabriel Hughes (who has struggled badly) at Coors. Seattle’s pitching is generally better equipped to handle the thin air than Colorado’s, and the Mariners have shown they can win these series. Give me the better arm and the more reliable overall roster on the road.

Braves (at Astros): Atlanta matches Tyler Mahle against Peter Lambert. The Braves are a strong overall club that has already locked up a solid position, while Houston is fighting for the AL West. Mahle and Atlanta’s depth give them the edge in a game that should stay competitive but tilts toward the better team.
